Adventure Playground

  • For 8 – 18* year olds with mild, moderate and complex needs
  • When: Thursdays, 3:30pm – 5:30pm
  • Where: Adventure Playground at Meriden Park
  • Cost**: £1 per session

This project runs every Thursday during Term Time. We work alongside MAPA (Meriden Adventure Playground) for the children who attend to get the most out of the facilities that the playground offers. APG is open to the public whilst we are there and as well as our staff, MAPA play workers are also present to aid the children with getting full use of the playground.

**This project is £1 per session, and we do provide snacks and drinks for the children who attend. 50p of each £1 is donated to the playground each week to help with the running of amenities.

The area is supported by staff who are paid by the local authority to supervise the various activities. These include imaginative play, den building, outdoor cooking over open fires, and water & sand play, as well as large construction.  The SoLO staff ensure that the children are able to get involved and contribute at their own level and interact successfully with the other children.

The playground is open until dusk and allows the children to experience playing in low light (the staff wear head torches to ensure that they are able to supervise safely). They are also enabled to experience wet weather conditions.

This session is subsidised by SMBC as part of our Targeted Community Short Breaks for children and young people with disabilities contractIf you wish to obtain further information regarding costs and service eligibility, please click here.
