Aged 6, Dylan’s ADHD made it hard for him to enjoy life
Now 16, he says that, without SoLO, his childhood memories would be very different.
Dylan joined SoLO’s adventure playground project when he was 6 years old. He was diagnosed with ADHD and was having a really rough time at school. He lacked social skills and his peers at school often refused to play with him. Dylan had no idea of empathy and could not read body language or facial expressions, which made making and keeping friends almost impossible for him. He joined the adventure playground and the unstructured nature of the play environment helped him to learn how to play. He received support to build friendships. Dylan is now 16 and reports that without this project and the support of the staff team his childhood memories would be very different.
